Four Seasons Garden Care is designed for clients who want continuity and informed attention. Instead of arranging separate jobs whenever the garden begins to fall behind, you appoint Suffolk Garden Maintenance to manage the routine work, seasonal decisions and developing priorities.

The difference is where the responsibility sits. In the usual arrangement the client notices a problem and books someone to put it right, which means the garden is permanently being caught up with. Under a care programme we are the ones watching. We see the same beds week after week, we know what we did last time and what we said we would do next, and we act before something becomes a job in its own right.

It suits people who have a garden worth looking after and not enough time, or not enough inclination, to direct it themselves. Busy households, owners who no longer want to do the heavy work, families with a larger or established garden, second home owners and people responsible for a property they do not live at. It suits gardens with a mix of things going on, where there are lawns, beds, shrubs, hedges, hard surfaces, an orchard or water, and the skill lies in balancing them rather than repeating one task.

It is not the right fit for everybody. If what you want is the lowest hourly rate, or a single cut and nothing more, a one off booking will serve you better and we are happy to quote for that instead.

Depending on the agreed plan, visits may cover beds and borders, weeding, deadheading, seasonal pruning, shrubs, climbers, lawns, routine hedge care, patios, leaf clearance, ponds and the general presentation of the garden. Time is directed to the most useful priorities for that point in the season.

Beds and borders usually take the largest share of the skilled time, because that is where regular attention shows most. Weeding before seed sets, deadheading to keep flowering going, light cultivation, edging, tying in and supporting, and taking out dead or damaged growth. Shrubs and climbers are pruned when the plant wants it rather than when the diary is convenient. Where lawns are in scope we mow, strim and finish the edges, so the garden reads as cared for even at times of year when the borders are quiet.

Hard surfaces are a large part of the impression a garden makes, so paths and patios are swept, cleared of leaves and kept on top of for weed growth. Leaves and seasonal debris are collected and dealt with through whatever arrangement we have agreed for the property. Where there is a pond or natural pool, light routine care such as surface debris and tidying marginal planting can be included within the garden time when that is practical.

Alongside the work itself we watch the condition of the place. Plant health, drainage, damage, anything moving in the wrong direction. That observation tends to be the part clients value most once they have had it for a season.

What we will not do is tell you that everything is included. The scope is agreed for your property and written down, so there is never any confusion about what a regular visit covers and what would be a separate quotation.

Four Seasons clients receive regular updates on the work completed, observations and next priorities. We also review the care plan as the garden develops, so visit time and larger projects can be planned properly.

An update is short and readable on a phone. It sets out the main areas and tasks covered since the last one, what we have noticed about plant health, weeds, damage, drainage or water features, photographs where a picture explains something better than a paragraph, what we expect to focus on next, and anything we would recommend that needs your approval and its own price. It is a record of the garden rather than a list of things to sell you.

Alongside the regular update we look at the garden as a whole at the end of a season and at the end of the year. That is when we talk about what has improved and what has not, whether the visit pattern and time allocation still fit a garden that has grown, what winter work or larger projects are worth planning, and whether access, waste or contact arrangements need changing. It keeps the arrangement honest in both directions, and it stops ongoing care drifting into an open ended list of extras.

Every garden needs a different balance of time, frequency and skill. After a Garden Health Check, we will recommend the right arrangement and provide a clear proposal for your property.

The proposal sets out the areas we will manage, how often we will visit and roughly how long a visit takes, the on site arrangements we have agreed, the work that would be quoted separately and the price for the ongoing care. Regular care is invoiced on the agreed schedule, with project work and materials shown separately, so you can always see what you are paying for.

We do not publish a price list, because a figure taken from another garden would tell you very little about yours. What decides it is size and layout, how much planted detail needs regular attention, how often we come, what is in scope, access and travel, the green waste arrangement, and the condition the garden is in when we start.
